NHM Praise Dance Ministry Begins in Tishrei (November) 2024: A Journey of Reflection, Healing, and Breaking Free from Cycles of Oppression
Introduction
Tishrei, sometimes known as the “bitter month”. It is unique in the Jewish calendar as it stands without holidays. This is a time for deep introspection and resilience. In Jewish tradition, Tishrei is connected to water, specifically the rains that cleanse and renew the earth. For those in the Diaspora, this month symbolizes a call to pause, reflect, and begin breaking free from the cycles of oppression, colonial history, and systemic barriers that still impact many today.
Tishrei: A Time for Reflection and Renewal
Tishrei is a month with profound potential for healing and preparation. This month invites us to reflect on our struggles and seek renewal, just as the rains bring new life to the earth. For communities in the Diaspora, Heshvan can serve as a reminder to confront internal and external chains—personal, societal, and spiritual. It’s a month to draw closer to the vision of freedom, breaking through any limitations that have held us captive.
Praise Dance as a Tool for Liberation
In this time of reflection and renewal, praise dance becomes more than just movement—it is a form of worship and a declaration of freedom. Through dance, we can express both our resilience and our gratitude for the Father’s presence in our lives. Praise dance allows us to embody our prayers, hopes, and yearning for liberation. It transforms the heaviness of our struggles into a physical act of release, reconnecting us with our spiritual roots and the promise of freedom.
Invitation to Join in Praise Dance
As part of this journey through Teshrei, I invite you to join me in a weekly praise dance rehearsal. Every Tuesday evenings on our YouTube Live platform at 6:30 p.m. ETZ, where we will gather for one hour to stretch, move, and praise the Father for His blessings and strength. This time together will allow us to physically and spiritually express our journey toward liberation, celebrating every step away from the cycles of oppression that have bound us.
To make this experience a welcoming and accessible environment to everyone, classes will be free throughout the month of Heshvan! By offering these classes free initially, we hope to encourage attendance and foster a community of individuals who find healing and liberation through praise dance.
After Tishrei, classes will be $5 per session or $15 per month. Thus, providing flexible options for those who wish to continue their journey in this community. Whether you are seasoned in dance or stepping into it for the first time, come as you are. Let’s move together in faith, reflection, and praise as we reclaim our divine freedom!
